Hunted Projects is delighted to present Ad Infinitum, a thought-provoking exhibition of new paintings by Edinburgh-based artist Betsey Kilpatrick (b. 1990). Known for her intuitive and expressive approach to painting, Kilpatrick’s latest series explores the profound patterns and paradoxes of nature through fluid and vibrantly dynamic compositions.

Rooted in the Latin phrase meaning "to infinity" or "forevermore," Ad Infinitum investigates the ongoing interplay between form and emptiness. Kilpatrick’s compositions invite viewers into a contemplative space, where spiralling forms—reminiscent of cosmic currents and natural vortices—seem to stretch beyond the canvas. Each painting captures a fleeting glimpse of life’s evolving essence, evoking the infinite and reminding us of our enduring connection to a vast, interconnected cosmos.

“My paintings don’t simply depict nature; they embody it,” Kilpatrick explains. “I am captivated by the paradox of evoking both movement and stillness, life’s pulse, and the void’s quietude. Each brushstroke creates a dialogue between the tangible and the intangible, allowing the surface to fully participate in the creative process.”

Distinguished by Kilpatrick’s use of pigment on raw linen, the paintings in Ad Infinitum reflect a sublime fluidity that mirrors nature’s organic rhythms. The untreated linen becomes an active participant in the artwork, enhancing the sense of unity between medium and message. This materiality reinforces the series’ central theme: the interconnectedness of creation, nature, and consciousness.
